Mirogoj, Zagreb’s main cemetery situated on the slopes of Mt. Medvednica, is considered one of Europe’s most beautiful cemeteries. Due to the many prominent figures buried here, Mirogoj is called the Croatian Pantheon. However, Mirogoj is also a beautiful park and outdoor art gallery. Renowned architect Hermann Bollé designed the shape of the cemetery, using a monumental composition of arcades, pavilions and domes, interwoven with rich vegetation, and the addition of a sculpture gallery.
